Theresa & Me

We got along.

I took Theresa to my apartment, and she looked around and seemed okay with everything. At one point, she even sat down so we could talk openly.

I realize there is something going on with her. She doesn’t drive, and she has three “medical friends” who help her. I’m on Disability too, but I don’t use those kinds of services, so this is something I’m going to have to understand and get used to.

And then there was her cat.

Sydney is the name of her cat—which is ALSO my niece’s name! 😂 That was a surprise.

I told Theresa I would help her get to the Post Office to change her address. I’ll also help her move her TV and her cat-hotel structure. We still need to get her connected to Spectrum so she is using her own Wi-Fi instead of mine. I have the Spectrum phone number on my refrigerator, so at least I know where that is.

Again, we got along well.

And I have to say, her choice of movies made me happy. When we went over to her apartment, the movie playing on her TV was Look Who’s Talking. That gave me a pretty good feeling about her. 😂

I do see some potential problems with her three helpers—not because I think THEY are a problem, but simply because it means there will be people in the apartment besides Theresa and me.

I realize I’m probably going to have to lock the door to my bedroom. Most of my stuff is in the common room now, though, and Theresa doesn’t strike me as someone who is going to go around touching other people’s things.

I’ve had 3½ years to gather my stuff. Last Saturday, I moved most of it into two places, so I’ve already made a pretty big adjustment myself.

We still need to talk about the kitchen, the dishwasher, and the clothes washer and dryer. Those are things we can work out closer to—or after—she actually moves in.

For now, I’m feeling pretty good about it.

We WILL be friends.

And with my transportation, I’ll try to help her when I can. I think there are going to be some adjustments for both of us, but after actually meeting her and talking with her, I feel much better about having Theresa as my roommate.
