Ed Helm's SNAFU book is a hoot--with all the things that went wrong--sometimes the thing that is right prevails

The story of the erector sets and chem labs for kids was amazing--I had one of those sets when I was in my early teens--it had about 50 powders and I played with it on my bedroom floor...

The story about the Tootsie Rolls was good and made better by the fact that the woman who sent those cas rations was given a Medal of Honor years later...

I love Tootsie Rolls but you don't see them as often as you used to and no more commercials unless they're GOING for nostalgia...They wouldn't freeze and saved a lot of military men...

I haven't gotten to Jimmie Carter's Nuclear Nuts yet--but this is a fun book (Audible) and will listen later

I decided to go in a different direction with my down time—to much TV and the 2 channels I usually watch are bogged down with Christmas and the same chaos each day—With the shutdown the news has grinded to a stalemate of news that I’ve heard for the past 23 days…

I’ll tune back in when something changes in the Middle East or Ukraine and Russia; the East wing being taken down; the President wanting $230 million for grievance; the $250 dance hall he’s going to build over what he’s destroyed of the people’s house—not his house—he doesn’t follow the Rule of Law and just started the demolition himself—then told people to not take pictures—like that was going to work???

His attacks on his enemies—say no more???

And Pete Hegseth, who couldn’t get out of his own way by telling EVERYONE not to report things from the Pentagon unless it was cleared—this includes Congress??? He already got everyone(the WHOLE press core) kicked out when they wouldn’t sign a paper to that effect…

All of these things are doing to be looked at in the future—Ed Helm’s at least makes it palatable—there will be other books—but this one is keeping my interest………

One more thing—when I was growing up we had a game station—my FAVORITE game was SNAFU—Situation Normal All F-d Up

No I didn’t know what it stood for until years later but I like it because I thought it was just like the Tron cycle game (and Joust) that I played at video arcade…
